Evangelina G. Marquez

Evangelina G. Marquez, age 78, of El Paso, TX, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 16, 1948, in Las Playas, Chihuahua, Mexico, to the late Fermin and Guadalupe (Bustillos) Garcia.

She grew up in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico, where she spent her early years. In her early twenties, she met her husband, Juan Marquez.  They married in 1974, and immigrated to the United States in 1978 in search of new opportunities and a better life for their family. After living in Arizona for a couple of years, Evangelina and Juan moved and settled in El Paso, Texas.  

Evangelina found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was always happy when music was playing, often singing and dancing along. She thoroughly enjoyed doing puzzles, eating potato chips with cottage cheese, and spending time with her family.  

Evangelina is survived by her children Ray (Sally) Marquez, Rosie (Rene) Cisneros, and Angie Marquez; grandchildren Isaac and Alyssa Cisneros, Ema and Erin and Evan Marquez; brother Silverio (the late Francisca) Garcia, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Juan Marquez; her brother Manuel Bustillos and sister Maria L. Chavez.

Visitation for Evangelina Marquez will be Friday, August 14, 2026 at San Jose Funeral Home East, 10950 Pellicano Dr. from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary starting at 6:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday August 15, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, with Interment to follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
