Our mother, Graciela Chaidez (Lopez Meza), age 80, entered eternal rest on August 14, 2025 in El Paso, Texas. She was born on December 3, 1944 in Miguel Auza, Zacatecas, Mexico to Julia Meza Jimenez and Antonio Gerino Lopez Alba.

Graciela was a resilient child, an only child, and though her childhood was especially difficult, she always persevered. This was evident throughout her life, a life that began in Mexico and which transitioned to the United States when she and her six young children emigrated to El Paso, Texas in search of a brighter future.

While in Mexico she and her then husband, Clemente Chaidez, owned and operated a tortilleria (tortilla factory), something she often spoke fondly about. After moving to the US, she became employed by Levi's Strauss, first starting as a machine operator, then later moving into an inspector role, and eventually retiring from there.

Graciela was an extremely hard-working mother and a devoted daughter. She will surely be remembered not only for that, but for her incredible and enduring strength, her wisdom, her intelligence and her love. 

Being a grandmother was one of Graciela's greatest joys, she loved her many grandchildren dearly. Aside from being a grandma she loved her plants, her roses, her cats, traveling when she was able, going out to eat, church on Sundays and, of course, watching telenovelas.

She is survived by her children (Sergio, Eugenia (husband Carlos), Laura, Rosa, Alejandro), grandchildren (Audrey, Aaron, Vanessa, Tony, Ivan, Andrea, Louie, Andrew, Elijah, Melody, Victoria, Mikey, Mateo) and great grandchildren (Olivia, Eva, Selene, TJ and Jade). She was preceded in death by her firstborn daughter, Josefina, her son Luis (wife Sylvia) and her parents (Antonio and Julia).

A celebration of her life will be held at Abundant Church on September 25, 2025 @ 5pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to a preferred charity of your choice.

Nuestra madre, Graciela Chaidez (López Meza), de 80 años, entro al reino de Dios el 14 de Agosto de 2025 en El Paso, Texas. Nació el 3 de Diciembre de 1944 en Miguel Auza, Zacatecas, México, hija de Julia Meza Jiménez y Antonio Gerino López Alba.

Graciela fue una niña resiliente, hija única, y aunque su infancia fue especialmente difícil, siempre perseveró. Esto fue evidente a lo largo de su vida, una vida que comenzó en México y que se trasladó a Estados Unidos cuando ella y sus seis hijos pequeños emigraron a El Paso, Texas, en busca de un futuro mejor.

Durante su estancia en México, ella y su entonces esposo, Clemente Chaidez, eran dueños y operaban una tortillería, algo de lo que solía hablar con cariño. Tras mudarse a Estados Unidos, empezó a trabajar en Levi's Strauss, primero como operadora de máquinas, luego como inspectora y finalmente se jubiló.

Graciela fue una madre sumamente trabajadora y una hija devota. Sin duda, será recordada no solo por eso, sino también por su increíble y perseverante fortaleza, su sabiduría, su inteligencia y su amor.

Ser abuela fue una de las mayores alegrías de Graciela, amaba profundamente a sus numerosos nietos. Además de ser abuela, amaba sus plantas, sus rosas, sus gatos, viajar cuando podía, salir a comer, ir a la iglesia los domingos y, por supuesto, ver telenovelas.

Le sobreviven sus hijos (Sergio, Eugenia (esposo Carlos), Laura, Rosa, Alejandro), nietos (Audrey, Aaron, Vanessa, Tony, Ivan, Andrea, Louie, Andrew, Elijah, Melody, Victoria, Mikey, Mateo) y bisnietos (Olivia, Eva, Selene, TJ y Jade). Le precedieron en la muerte su primogénita, Josefina, su hijo Luis (esposa Sylvia) y sus padres (Antonio y Julia).

Se llevará a cabo una celebración de su vida en Abundant Church el 25 de septiembre de 2025 a las 5 p.m.
