Gustavo Payan

 

On November 1, 2025, at the age of 71. Gustavo Payan passed away. He was born in El Paso on February 8th, 1954. In 1973 he graduated from Austin High School. He also graduated from UTEP with a bachelor’s in accounting in 1978. After graduation, he worked for 7 years at the El Paso Gas Company where he later moved on to work for the EPCC a total of 8 years. His expertise in accounting moved him to start his own business as an SBA consultant specializing in Small Business Loans. Later years, he worked on his own, as a business consultant for different companies and cliental. His love of horses was visible at an early age as he worked as a groom man in several racetracks during the summer in his early youth.  He is proceeded in death by his father Pedro Payan, his mother Ramona Payan and his sister Bertha Rodriquez.  He is a survived by his brothers, Ramon Payan, Rogelio Payan, Lorenzo Payan, Francisco Javier Payan and Ruben Payan; sisters-in-law Cristina Payan, Rosa Payan, Oralia Payan, and several nephews and nieces. His quiet demeanor, respectful character and generosity with youth will be greatly missed but we know he lived life on his own terms!
