Jesus E. Samaniego
Samaniego | Jesus Enrique Samaniego passed away peacefully at his home on September 29, 2026 accompanied by family and the Archangels. Born on May 31, 1931 in El Paso, Texas, and building from a modest upbringing in Mexico, he dedicated himself to his studies and profession. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Texas Western College in 1959. Following a professional accounting career as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), he went on to earn a Doctor of Judisprudence (J.D.) from the School of Law at the University of Texas at Austin in 1972 and dedicated himself to the legal field until his retirement. Jesus was humbled to be recognized as the first Hispanic to hold both a CPA title and Attorney at Law degree in the state of Texas in 1972. Prior to pursuing his education, Jesus served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He touched many lives with his wisdom, perseverance and work ethic during his lifetime.
Jesus was a lifelong lover of reading and learning. He viewed education as the key that unlocked the door to opportunity and instilled this admirable trait in his family and friends. He felt privileged to serve his family, friends and clients with accounting and legal counsel on estate planning, real estate, business and taxation matters internationally. In working together, he and his clients soon became friends.
He will be greatly missed and forever remembered by those whose lives he touched. During his long life, Jesus was known as a son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Coty, whose children embraced him as a father: Jaime, Alberto (DeAnna), Victor (Lanna) and Cristina (Laron); his natural family: George, Jesus E. Jr “Chuty”, Eloisa (Robert), Rosalia (Michael), Johnny and their beloved mother; his grandchildren: Eric, Chandler, Aiden, Aaron, David, Brittany, Jordan (Allison), Kyle (Allison), Casidy (Lane), Andre, Colby, Adam (Emily), and Ryan (Nicole); and great-grandchildren: Hayden, Violet, Chloe, Ava, Jace, Liam, Beau, Emmy, Sydney, Michael, Emma, Zara, Cecilia and Evelyn.
He is preceded in death by his parents Jesus and Juana Samaniego, and sisters Amelia (Jose), Maria Elena, daughter-in-law Alana, his grandson Adrian and great-granddaughter Mia.
The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to all those who lovingly cared for Jesus during his final years, especially Paty Cardosa, Norma Garcia, his medical team and the full team at First Choice Hospice. The family will receive friends from 4pm-8pm on Thursday, October 15, 2026 at San Jose Funeral Home, 10950 Pellicano Dr., with a rosary at 6pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St Joseph Catholic Church, 3729 Hueco Avenue, on October 16, 2026 at 12pm, followed by interment at Fort Bliss Cemetery with military honors.
