Johannes P. Van Der Aa, affectionately known as “Joop,” was born on November 13, 1941, in Emmen, Netherlands. He peacefully entered God’s kingdom on Friday, February 9, 2024, in ElPaso, TX, surrounded by his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren.
Joop was the loving son of Theodorus van der Aa and Janna Hanouwer-van der Aa. He is survived by his devoted wife, Maria del Carmen, with whom he was married for 58 years. Together, they built a beautiful family and were blessed with five children: David, Juanita,
Willemiena “Miny,” Christina, and Elizabeth. Joop’s parents, sister Willemiena, and brother Berend precede him in death. He is survived by
his brothers Theodorus and Arend van der Aa, sister Willemiena Nales, and numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory.
Joop also leaves behind a legacy of love in his grandchildren, David Jr, Michael, Johanna, Lucy, Christian, Andrew, Dorian, and Ava who will forever remember the love and joy he brought to their lives. He was blessed with six great-grandchildren: Diego, Lucas, Olivia, Lexanie,
Bethanie, and Madisson. Known as “Pop” to his children and “Opa” to his grandchildren, Joop’s life was marked by dedication and service. After graduating from high school in the Netherlands, he joined the Royal Dutch Air Force, where he proudly served as a Sergeant. It was during his time stationed at Ft. Bliss that he was fortunate enough to meet the love of his life, “Carmelita” as he loved to call her.
Joop’s unwavering commitment to his family and his warm, caring nature endeared him to all who knew him. He will be remembered for his honesty, directness, and selflessness. His love and guidance will be missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all those he touched.
In this time of mourning, we honor Johannes’s life and celebrate the lasting impact he had on his family and friends. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory forever inspire us to cherish our loved ones and live each day to the fullest.

In Loving Memory of our Beloved Delia Montes Delia Montes, age 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her four sons, eleven grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Delia was the heart of her family—a quiet force of love and loyalty. She was a beautiful mix of strength and softness—stern when needed, but always leading with unconditional love. Her presence was steady, her heart vast, and her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
