John Olivas, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly on November 28, 2025, at the age of 74.

John was born on November 24, 1951, in El Paso, Texas, where he remained a lifelong resident. His roots in the community ran deep, raising a family and with many lifelong friendships.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe Morales Olivas and David Olivas, his brothers, David Olivas Jr., Mike Olivas and his sister Rosa Aguirre.

John leaves behind a legacy of devotion to his family. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Isabel C. Olivas; his brother, Ricky Olivas; his children, Tommy Olivas, Johnny Olivas and his daughter Vanesa Rodriguez, two daughters in law, six sisters in law and two brothers in law. Seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

John’s passions brought smiles to all; he always made sure everyone enjoyed one of his delicious home cooked meals with plenty of his flavorful chile. He loved bowlingtraveling, fishing and outdoor grilling; he was also a loyal lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan. His generosity in helping others and gentle spirit will be remembered by all who knew him.

A funeral service will be held to celebrate John’s life on Sunday, December 7th from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. with recitation of the rosary at 6:00 P.M. at San Jose Funeral Home-East, 10950 Pellicano Drive El Paso, Texas.
