Magdalena O. Nava, de 83 años, de El Paso, falleció pacíficamente mientras dormía el 14 de abril de 2026, tras una difícil batalla contra el cáncer. Siempre enfrentó todo con fortaleza, optimismo y gracia. Estaba con miembros cariñosos de su familia.
 
Nació el 22 de julio de 1942 en Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. Se casó con Refugio Nava en noviembre de 1962, fue ama de casa, madre de cinco hijos y nunca volvió a casarse tras el fallecimiento de su marido en 1971. Trabajó en Economy Laundry desde su apertura y más tarde en Uribarri’s Accounting and Tax. La señora Nava deja en vida cuatro de sus cinco hijos: José Antonio, Leticia, Irma y Magdalena, nueve nietos y dos bisnietos. La precedieron en la muerte su marido Refugio y su hija Cecilia.
 
A Magdalena le encantaba cocinar, nadar y jardinear: sus rosas siempre eran tan hermosas y esperamos que sigan floreciendo. Fue miembro activa del Comedor Pavo Real en Ysleta, donde disfrutó del ambiente cariñoso y de las amistades que había formado a lo largo de los años. Antes de Covid, compartía su pasión por la cocina trabajando de voluntaria en la cafetería de la Iglesia Nuestra Señora de los Dolores. Ya que le encantaba nadar, visitaba el Centro Acuático William W. Cowan, donde rápidamente hizo amistades. Todos los que la conocieron quedaron impactados por su gran corazón, con quienes compartió generosamente sus "abrazos gratis". 
 
Se celebrará un servicio en honor a su vida en la Funeraria San José Este, en 10950 Pellicano, el 24 de abril de 2026 a las 10 de la mañana. El rosario comenzará al mediodía y su entierro tomará lugar a las 2 de la tarde del mismo día en el cementerio Monte Carmelo. En lugar de flores, la familia sugiere donaciones al Hospital Infantil St. Jude para ayudar a niños que luchan contra el cáncer, como ella lo hizo, para tener la oportunidad de vivir vidas más largas y saludables. Te queremos y te extrañaremos.

Magdalena O. Nava, 83, of El Paso, passed peacefully in her sleep on April 14th, 2026, after a difficult battle with cancer. Her strength, optimism, and grace never faltered. She was with loving members of her family.
 
She was born on July 22^nd, 1942, in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico. She was married to Refugio Nava in November 1962, was a stay-at-home mom of five kids and never remarried after her husband passed in 1971. As an empty nester, she was employed at Economy Laundry since their opening and later as a bookkeeper at Uribarri’s Accounting and Tax. Mrs. Nava is survived by four of her five children: Jose Antonio, Leticia, Irma and Magdalena, nine grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Refugio and daughter Cecilia.
 
Magdalena loved cooking, swimming and gardening—her roses were always so beautiful and pray that they’ll continue to flourish. She was an active member of the Pavo Real Senior Center in Ysleta where she enjoyed the loving atmosphere and friendships she had formed throughout the years. Before Covid, she shared her passion for cooking by volunteering at Our Lady of Sorrows Church cafeteria. As an avid swimmer, she often visited the William W. Cowan Aquatic Center, where she quickly made friends. Her giving heart was felt by all who knew her, with whom she generously shared her “free hugs”.  She had a giving soul who was felt by all she met.
 
A service celebrating her life will be held at San Jose Funeral Home East at 10950 Pellicano on April 24^th, 2026, at 10 am. The rosary will start at noon, and her burial will take place at 2 pm on the same date at Mt. Carmel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital to help children who are struggling with cancer, as she did, to have a chance at living longer, healthier lives. We love you and will miss you so much.
