Maria Elena H. Arredondo, of El Paso, Texas, passed away at the age of 87, on Tuesday – April 9, 2024. She passed away peacefully in her home, with family members around her. Maria Elena was born in El Paso, Texas on February 9, 1937. At the age of 14, she met a boy (Tony Jr.) and they fell in love. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1954 and married Antonio A. Arredondo Jr. in 1955. They were married 64 years. Maria Elena was a dedicated mother to her 3 children, Leticia A. Benitez (†) (Anthony), Antonio H. Arredondo III (Jill) and Loretta (Boo Boo) H. Arredondo. Often time Maria Elena played the role of both mother and father, while Antonio was stationed overseas with the military. She has 3 granddaughters: Alyssa Arredondo, Isabella Arredondo and Jessica Pierce. In her younger years, Maria Elena worked as a Registered Dental Assistant. She was great at math and later pursued her career of becoming an Accountant. She loves(d) her doggies; especially her Buffy, Rocky, Nikko, Gizmo, Lola and Charlie. Maria Elena was involved with various charitable organizations such as St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Paralyzed Veterans of America and Wounded Warriors. She had simple joys such as waking up early and working on her yard. She enjoyed attending plays, concerts and musicals. On Sundays, Blondie, Beetle Bailey and Family Circus made her giggle. Her favorite weekly outing was going to the movies and having a bag of popcorn, a diet coke and dinner afterwards.

Memorial service will be Wednesday, May 8, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM with a Scripture service at 1:00 PM at San Jose Funeral Home-East, 10950 Pellicano Dr., 79935. Committal Service to follow at Ft. Bliss National Cemetery at 2:30 P.M.
