Mary Carmen Gutierrez, born August 25, 1941 passed away peacefully on September 18, 2025, at the age of 84. Mary Carmen will be remembered for her faith in God; her love and support of her family and friends; her love for reading; and her desire to watch her grandkids in sports activities.
A devoted member of the Catholic Church she spent her early years working for the Catholic Diocese of El Paso and volunteering for Our Lady of Assumption Church, Cathedral and Loretto High Schools. Her support left a lasting impression with many former students who ask to this day how she was doing. She also retired from the EPISD as an administrator.
Mary Carmen was married for 35 years to her high school sweetheart Daniel Gutierrez. They both emphasized family values and the importance of treating others with kindness. They left a lasting impression - one of presence, warmth, and unity by gathering for a family dinner every day.
She is survived by her five loving children Daniel, Ruben, Marta, Isela and Leo; seven grandchildren Thomas, Alyssa, Erin, Melinda, Leonardo, Lilian, and Daniela; and five great-grandchildren Makoa, Kai, Camila, Lola and Ariana.
Mary Carmen was preceded in death by her husband Daniel Gutierrez and brother Raymundo Heredia.
Rosary will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Funeral Home East, 10950 Pellicano, El Paso, TX 79935. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, followed with the interment at Mt.
