In Loving Memory of
Joseph Craige Hill
Joseph Craige Hill, born May 1, 1957, and raised in El Paso, Texas, passed away on January 13, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. He spent his life rooted in the community that shaped him and that he proudly called home.
Craige attended Eastwood High School and spent his early working years as a bartender, a role well suited to his natural ability to connect with people. He later continued his education at Western Tech College, which led to a long and dedicated career at the University of Texas at El Paso. Craige retired from UTEP as a Facilities Supervisor after many years of service, a position he took great pride in.
Craige was the kind of person who could talk to anyone about anything. He never met a stranger and had an easy, genuine way of making people feel comfortable. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, especially playing golf, cheering on St. Louis Cardinals baseball, relaxing with an ice-cold Coors Light, and listening to music, particularly Frank Zappa.
Craige is survived by his wife, Sylvia Hill, his partner in life and love, and his sons, Joseph Zachary Hill and Patrick Dylan Hill, whom he loved deeply. He is also survived by his daughter, Cassie Holguin Felix, her spouse, Kenny Felix, and his grandson, Russell Felix, who brought him great joy. Craige is further survived by his brother, Scott Hill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Virginia Hill and Joseph Hill.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, located at 2301 Zanzibar Road, El Paso, Texas 79925. There will be no visitation. Craige chose cremation, and interment will take place at a later date.
Craige believed strongly in the power of blood donation to save lives. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a blood donation be made in his honor or that a donation be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Craige will be remembered for his warmth, his easy conversation, and the way he made people feel welcome wherever he went. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him
