Robert O'Dell
January 25, 1940 - May 23, 2025
Robert O’Dell passed away peacefully with his family at his bedside on May 23, 2025. Born on January 25, 1940, in El Paso, Texas, he was the beloved son of Frank O’Dell and Rosa Porras. A proud 1958 graduate of Jefferson High School, he went on to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. After his service, he earned a track scholarship and graduated from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1963—a testament to his dedication and athletic talent. His love for running and teaching brought him back to his Alma Mater, where he taught and coached track and field and cross country at Jefferson High School. After five years of coaching, he pursued a new passion and founded Aquarius Furniture, a successful furniture manufacturing business he operated for over three decades. His creativity, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial spirit left a lasting mark on his community.
Among his proudest moments were being a part of the mile relay team at Jefferson that set a state record that lasted over 25 years, coaching at Jefferson and Cathedral including State track and field championships in 1996 and 1998, and coaching his children in multiple sports. He was a devoted father and mentor. He is survived by his brother Rudy O'Dell, and his loving children: Laura, Bobby, and Paco O’Dell. He took great joy in guiding, coaching, and supporting not only his children but also his many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. We miss you dad and love you with all our hearts. Semper Fi.
