Sofia R. de Contreras, born September 18, 1928, in Santiego Papasquairo, Durango Mexico to the late Petra Estrada and Genaro Ramirez. She was the fifth of nine children. Sofia went to her final rest on January 23, 2024.

She grew up in Torreon, Mexico and attended three years of elementary school. She worked in Torreon, Mexico and married Jose Angel Contreras and to their union had six children. She was a loving person to her children, family, friends and to everyone that she met. Her gift to all was her beautiful smile, food, lemonade and shelter even if she did not have enough for herself and family. She loved cooking, canning, gardening and babysitting.

Survived by children Gloria Holguin (Albert), Jose Angel Contreras, Jr., Mary Contreras, Robert Contreras (Irma), Leticia Berry (Reginald), 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
