Anita “Nane” Gutierrez

March 13, 1935 – June 2, 2025

Anita “Nane” Gutierrez, 90, of Marfa, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on March 13, 1935, in Marfa, Anita lived a long and beautiful life grounded in love, faith, family, and quiet strength. She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Martin Patricio Gutierrez, and her cherished grandson, Andrew Gutierrez.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Martin Gutierrez; her daughter, Terry Gutierrez Regalado, her sons, Ruben Gutierrez, Miguel Gutierrez, Billy Townes; Son-in-Law Ruben Regalado, daughters-in-law, Monica Gutierrez and Barbara Gutierrez; her grandchildren, Diana Gutierrez, Patrick and Ilse Gutierrez, Darlene Lopez, Isabella Lopez; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and lifelong friends.

Anita was the second youngest of twelve children—six brothers and five sisters—from the well-known Salgado family of Marfa, Texas. Early in life, she worked at a local clothing factory, where a company dance in Juárez, Mexico, changed her life forever—that’s where she met Martin, the love of her life.

A dedicated homemaker, Anita poured her heart into raising her children and grandchildren—and, as many will say, helped raise the neighborhood too. Her home was a place of welcome, comfort, and unconditional love.

She had a deep love for music and a devout Catholic faith that guided her through life’s joys and hardships. Through her gentle example, she instilled strong values in her family and touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Anita will be remembered for her faith and devotion, warmth, humor, wisdom, and the calming presence she brought to those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
