In Loving Memory
Francisca Macias Gallegos
October 4, 1934 – October 3, 2026
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Francisca Macias Gallegos, who departed this life on October 3, 2026, just one day before her 92nd birthday.
Francisca was truly one of a kind. Fiercely independent, strong-willed, spirited, and unapologetically herself, she was a woman ahead of her time who lived life on her own terms. She never waited for permission to pursue her interests, follow her dreams, or do things her way.
An entrepreneur at heart, Francisca took great pride in being self-employed in the textile business, purchasing merchandise from the old Farah factory in El Paso. Resourceful, hardworking, and determined, she valued her independence and the freedom of being her own boss.
Francisca had a passion for adventure and especially enjoyed driving to Mazatlán, Mexico, where she loved spending the winter. She also had a love for soccer and proudly owned a local soccer team in Ciudad Juárez. Music and dancing brought her tremendous joy, especially the mambo. She embraced life's pleasures and never needed a reason to enjoy herself.
She had a larger-than-life personality, a sharp sense of humor, and a colorful vocabulary that those who knew her will never forget. Feisty, stubborn, outspoken, and never afraid to speak her mind, Francisca could make you laugh, test your patience, and leave you with a story worth telling—all in the same conversation.
She was a woman who knew exactly who she was and never felt the need to be anything else. She faced life's challenges with remarkable strength, determination, and resilience. She was authentic, fearless, and, in her own opinion, usually right. Those fortunate enough to know her understood that life with Francisca was never dull.
Francisca was the proud mother of seven children—six daughters and one son. She is survived by her six daughters: Maria G. Gallegos, Martha Gallegos, Mary Velasco, Sandra Gallegos, Maria Luisa Nunez, and Claudia Gallegos Ortegon. Her remarkable legacy lives on through her 23 grandchildren, as well as her many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward for generations to come.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Manuel Gallegos, who passed away in March 2026. Although her family mourns her passing, they find comfort in imagining mother and son reunited, sharing stories, laughter, and undoubtedly a little mischief.
Francisca leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a family who will forever remember her strength, independence, humor, adventurous spirit, and unmistakable presence. Her legacy is not simply measured by the years she lived, but by the remarkable way she chose to live them.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever our Madre.
