Our beloved father, Gabriel Luera, born on January 13, 1951, was called by the Lord into eternal life on Sunday, February 8, 2026. He is now reunited with the love of his life, our mother, Bertha Alicia; his parents, Juan and Raquel Luera; and his brother, Adan Luera.

He leaves behind a legacy of love in his children: Gabriel Luera Jr. (Catherine), Eric Michael Luera, Tonya Marissa Cena (Phil), and Julissa Rochelle Luera; his cherished grandchildren Kayla, Eric, Aaron, Christian, and Kamden; his great-grandchild Aeros; and his brothers Juan, Samuel, Alfredo, and David Luera.

Dad dedicated his life to service, as an educator for Gadsden ISD and through his years working for the City of El Paso. But his greatest and most important work was always his family. He did not simply provide for us; he was present. Whether coaching sports, offering guidance, or teaching us the value of hard work and perseverance, he showed up every time.

His sense of humor and easy-going spirit made him beloved wherever he went. He had a way of lighting up a room, dancing without hesitation, singing with joy, and playing his guitar with heart. He could sit at any table, break bread with anyone, and leave them smiling. Dad loved camping adventures, family fishing trips, and long road trips, always preferring the journey and the time together over the destination.

Over the past two years, as he courageously fought to remain with us, we became his support system, just as he had always been ours. Even in his hardest days, he never failed to remind us how much he loved us. With his simple but powerful words, “Be good and do good,” he gave us a compass for life, a reminder of who we are and what we are meant to do.

There are countless stories we could share, but what remains constant is this: he was a devoted husband, an extraordinary father, a proud grandfather, and an incredible human being. His love, strength, humor, and faith will live on in each of us.

The Luera family will receive friends and relatives on Monday, February 23, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt.
