Ignacio "Nacho" Fernandez

Ignacio “Nacho” Fernandez born in El Paso, Texas on July 29, 1941, passed away in his sleep on Monday, May 18, 2026 at the St. Giles Nursing Facility, El Paso, Texas. He was surrounded by his family and caring staff and residents of the facility. He has gone on to be with his loving wife, Olga Fernandez, who preceded him in 1998.

He was the second child of Esperanza “Espi” Fernandez and Louis Fernandez. He leaves behind two siblings, Josefina F. Mendiola and Ruben Fernandez, and a brother Ramon Fernandez who preceded him in 2017. He is also survived by his children Ignacio Fernandez Jr. and Sarah Fernandez.

Visitation will be held at on Thursday, June 4, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with reciting of the rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Funeral Home-East, 10950 Pellicano Dr.,79935 (915) 590-8700. Funeral Mass will be Friday, June 5, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at San Antonio de Padua Catholic Church, 503 Hunter Drive, El Paso, Texas. Interment will follow at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Avenue, El Paso, Texas.
