On the evening of July 17, 2025, El Paso local Juan Z. Nevarez, also known fondly as Juni, passed away peacefully. He follows to heaven his mother and father Delfina Z. and Juan B. Nevarez, as well as his brothers Alfredo and Alvaro A. Nevarez.

Juni was a devoted son and parishioner of Guardian Angel Church his entire life. At his parish, he was the recipient of the Oak of Justice and completed the requirements of the Christian Foundation Program. He was also certified as a Ministro Extraordinario de la Comunión and as a Ministro de Justicia Criminal. Known as a jack of all trades and bell-man, he consistently maintained the parish as well as rang the church-bell faithfully for decades.

He had a passion for music and shared his love of rock and roll and faith songs with his friends and family, even in his final days. He was a man of few words but great action. He was honest, hardworking, faithful and kind.

His service to the community was widespread, well-known and immeasurable. He will be missed dearly as a brother, uncle, cousin and friend.

Visitation will be held at Guardian Angel Church on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m.

Mass will take place at Guardian Angel Church on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. with burial at Concordia Cemetery following.

Guardian Angel parishioners will host a potluck reception honoring the memory of Juan.
