Karen Bedell, 89 years old, of El Paso, Texas, passed away suddenly on Sunday, March 22, 2026.
Born November 15, 1936 in Lamar, Missouri. Karen moved to Texas and graduated from Floydada High School. She then attended West Texas State College (now West Texas A&M University in Canyon, Texas). She was the first female in their Industrial Arts Program and built her bedroom set that she slept in until her final day. It was there in college that she saw and swore to marry the love of her life, Norval Bedell. She went on to become a mother, teacher, seamstress, retailer, dog rescuer and so much more. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Karen was preceded in death by her spouse, Norval Bedell, and her eldest son, Blake Bedell.
She is survived by her children, Blair Bedell, Paige Bedell, Patrice Bedell, and daughter-in-law, Debbie Bedell. As well as her grandchildren and great grandchildren, Kalli Pennington (Shawn, and their daughter’s Karli and Kadence), Chase Bedell (son, Keason Bedell), Kenzie Haley (Ryan, and their son’s Thatcher and Hocklynn), Kelci Collins (Aiden), and Kalison Farley (son, Dax Powell). All this in addition to friends and “chosen family.”

A service to honor her life will be held on April 3, 2026 at 10:00 am at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, located at 5200 Fred Wilson Ave., El Paso, Texas. There will be a short reception to follow at 11:00 am located at El Paso Municipal Police Officer’s Association (EPMPOA) Memorial Hall on 3601 Rutherglen St., El Paso, Texas.
