In Loving Memory of
Linda Kay Scroggs
Linda Kay Scroggs, 80, passed away peacefully on March 15, 2026, in El Paso, Texas. She was born October 12, 1945, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Edward and Juanita Pearcy.
Linda’s life was shaped by her unique connection to the military community, having experienced military life throughout both her childhood and adulthood. It was during her time attending school in France that she met the love of her life, Larry Scroggs. The two were married on December 9, 1967, in Wichita Falls, Texas, and shared a devoted and loving marriage until his passing in 2019. Their bond was a constant source of strength and joy throughout her life.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Linda dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family. She found great purpose in supporting not only her own children but also the children of fellow military families. Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and open doors, and she took special joy in bringing loved ones together around her table. Linda enjoyed playing softball in her younger years and later found her greatest happiness in cheering from the sidelines as her children played sports.
Once her children were grown, Linda continued her lifelong calling to care for others by serving her community in El Paso as a Certified Nurse Aide. She worked in the pediatrics unit at Southwestern General Hospital and provided compassionate home healthcare, touching many lives with her gentle care and kindness. Linda will be remembered for her warm smile, her love of the color purple, and the welcoming spirit that made everyone feel at home in her presence. In quieter moments, she enjoyed watching the Food Network, classic black-and-white westerns, and spending time with the animals she adored.
She is survived by her daughter, Nita Tinney; her son, Steven Scroggs; her daughter-in-law, Oddray Scroggs; her sisters, Carol Bowen and Lisa Smith; her granddaughters, Christen Jones and Shania Tinney; her great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Juanita Pearcy; her beloved husband, Larry Scroggs; her brother, Edward Pearcy; and her grandson, Christopher Jones.
Linda’s life was a beautiful reflection of love, resilience, compassion, and unwavering devotion to family. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her love and the memories she created will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Funeral services will be held on April 15, 2026, at San Jose Funeral Home, located at 10950 Pellicano Drive, El Paso, Texas 79935. Viewing will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., with services beginning at 11:00 a.m.
She will be laid to rest at Fort Stanton Veterans Cemetery in Fort Stanton, New Mexico on a later date, where she will be reunited with her beloved husband.
