In Loving Memory
Of
Luis Navarro Gonzalez
Luis N. was born on July 1, 1930, in Chihuahua, Mexico, to Emigdio and Esperanza Gonzalez. He was one of fifteen children. Some of his childhood was spent helping to deliver milk with his dad, then going to school.
He also loved to play baseball on the family property. Luis came to El Paso when he was about thirteen years old.
He attended “Zavala Elementary” and “Bowie High School”. He was unable to finish high school but did receive his GED. He joined the Army on March 15, 1951, served in the Korean War, and was honorably discharged on March 15, 1953.
He later married the love of his life, Carmen Aguilera, on Nov. 20, 1955. He had four children: Luis (Nena), Maria del Carmen (Kristin), Hector (Martha), and †Alfredo (Irma).
To support his family, he worked as a tile setter. Luis was a voracious reader. His hobbies included wood carving, painting, drawing, and sketching. He was a “Dodgers” fan and also enjoyed watching The Little League World Series and Classic English/Spanish Movies. He was called “MacGyver” because he could fix anything with just household products laying around.
He was blessed with seven grandchildren Valerie (JP), Luis Jr. (Loni), Jessica (Miguel), Joseph (Lorena), Jennifer (Matthew), Jackie, and Christina.
As well as 10 great-grandchildren: Luis III, Levi, Landon, John, Jade, Julian, Joy, Erick, Chris and Caleb.
