Maria Mercedes Rivas, age 89, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at 9:00 p.m. She was born on October 24, 1936, in Chihuahua and later made her home in El Paso, where she built a life centered on family, and community.

Maria Mercedes was known for her kind heart. She was deeply loved by her friends and family.

She is survived by her eight children and preceded in death by her beloved son, Juan Bernardo Rivas, and husband Eduardo Rivas.

Funeral services will be held at Cristo Rey Catholic Church on April 10, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.

Maria Mercedes Rivas will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Maria Mercedes Rivas, de 89 años, falleció en paz el 27 de marzo de 2026 a las 9:00 p.m. Nació el 24 de octubre de 1936 en Chihuahua y más adelante hizo su vida en El Paso, donde construyó un hogar centrado en su familia y comunidad.

Maria Mercedes era conocida por su gran corazón. Fue querida por sus amigos y por toda su familia.

Le sobreviven sus ocho hijos, y le precedieron en la muerte su querido hijo Juan Bernardo Rivas y su esposo Eduardo Rivas.

Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo en la iglesia Cristo Rey el 10 de abril de 2026 a las 10:30 a.m.

Maria Mercedes Rivas será profundamente extrañada por todos los que la conocieron y la quisieron.
