In Loving Memory of our

Beloved

Carmen Amaro

Our beloved mother, daughter, sister, and aunt, Carmen Amaro left us for heaven on February 13, 2026, at the age of 75. She passed peacefully after her son reassured her that it was time for her to go rest — a final moment that reflected the deep love they shared.

Quiet and private by nature, Carmen revealed her strength and warmth to those closest to her. A devoted single mother, she built a life rooted in resilience and compassion. She loved tending to her plants, caring for her dogs, and feeding any stray cat that crossed her path.

A 1968 graduate of Fabens High School, Carmen, her mother and siblings moved to El Paso, where she began working at Farah Manufacturing. She went on to earn a degree in social work from UTEP, dedicating her career to helping others through social services.

She found joy in collecting Betty Boop dolls and angel figurines, watching reality television, traveling with friends — especially to the ocean — and studying curandera traditions, meditation, and Reiki.

Above all, Carmen’s greatest love was her son, Mark Amaro. Their bond was, and will always be, unbreakable. As he shared in his final goodbye, “It’s always been me and my mom from the very beginning to the heartbreaking end.”

Carmen is survived by her son, Mark, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Aurelia Ocarranza; her sisters, Angelina Bracamontes and Estela Chavez; and her brother, Agustine Cortez.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you feed a stray cat or adopt a dog in her honor.
