Guadalupe Valenzuela

Guadalupe Gomez Valenzuela was born in Aguas Calientes, Mexico on February 17, 1934, to her parents, Gregorio and Guadalupe Gomez. Guadalupe had seven siblings, Manuel (Julieta) Gomez, Pedro (Carmen) Gomez, Anselmo (Norma) Gomez, Carlos Gomez, Socorro (Salvador) Sosa, Carmen (George) Villalobos, and Maria Elena (Ernesto) Garza. As a young child, Guadalupe selflessly gave up her dream of attending school, in order to help care and raise her younger siblings; even though she was a young child herself. She will always be remembered as a loving daughter and devoted sister. To her brothers and sisters, Guadalupe was a second mother whose gentle spirit, endless patience, and selfless love provided comfort, guidance, and strength, leaving an enduring imprint on their hearts.

She learned to cook at a very young age, often playing with her toy dishes while also cooking for her brothers and sisters. Her family left Aguas Calientes and moved to Juarez, Chihuahua where she continued to work and help support her family. Guadalupe eventually made her way to El Paso, Texas where she worked at The Plaza Hotel in order to provide for her young son, Manuel Cerros. While there, she met and fell in love with Teodoro Valenzuela. They were married on October 22, 1958 and were married for 66 years. Teodoro preceded her in death.

Guadalupe is survived by her children, Manuel Cerros, Victor (Socorro) Valenzuela, Celia (David) Ramirez, Gerardo Valenzuela, Leticia Valenzuela, Yolanda (Rick) Pinon, and Luis (Diana) Valenzuela. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is lovingly survived by 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. In addition, Guadalupe is lovingly survived by many cherished nieces and nephews in California and Texas, each of whom held a cherished place in her heart and were blessed by her love, prayers, and gently guidance.

As deeply as Guadalupe loved her family, her greatest love was always her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her unwavering faith was the foundation of her life. She loved her family wholeheartedly, because she loved God above all else. A faithful woman and a true prayer warrior, Guadalupe’s greatest ministry was her family. She began and ended each day in prayer. She poured countless hours of prayers, petitions and unconditional love over those she cherished, leaving a legacy that will continue to echo through generations. Her life was a testament of enduring faith, selfless love and trust in God. Today, we find comfort in knowing that the hands that were folded in prayer for us throughout our lives are now resting in the presence of the One she faithfully loved, called upon, and served all the days of her life.

Funeral services have been entrusted to San Jose Funeral Home, 10950 Pellicano Dr. Private viewing will take place on Sunday, June 28, 2026  public viewing will take place from 3:00 pm – 7:00 pm, with the Holy Rosary being recited at 6:00 pm. Funeral Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated by Father Mariano on Monday, June 29, 2026 at 9:30 am, at San Antonio De Padua Catholic Church, 503 Hunter Dr. Interment will occur immediately following the mass, at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, 401 South Zaragoza Rd, El Paso, TX 79907. Serving as pallbearers are her beloved grandsons. Honorary pallbearers are her daughter-in-law Socorro Valenzuela, & her sons-in-law David Ramirez & Rick Pinon.
