It is with deep sorrow that we announce on June 29th our mother, Cuca Rey Villegas, born October 9, 1926, passed on. She was the daughter of Miguel Rey and Cuca Mora Rey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gabriel A. Villegas, her parents and siblings: Consuelo Sambrano, Armando Rey, and Ofelia Arroyo. She is survived by her four children: Vangie Moraga (Tony), Miguel Villegas (Becky), Cuca Reyes (Jorge), Gabriel Villegas (Mary); eleven grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was a proud Bowie Bear alum (a Golden Bear). She worked at JC Penney for many years and retired from EPISD. We give our sincerest thanks to Foster Ayuda (Norma Bujanda, Nancy, Angie, Mague, Blanca and nurse Eva) for the devoted and timeless care of our mother. We also thank Hospice of El Paso, all the nurses who cared for her, especially, as of late, Brenda Vierra. Although, at this time, we find ourselves disheartened, we also find comfort that she is now at peace. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 9, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 6:00 p.m. at San Jose Funeral Home-East, 10950 Pellicano Dr., 79935 (915) 590-8700. Funeral mass will be Wednesday, July 10, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 2301 Zanzibar, 79925. Interment will follow at Memorial Pines Cemetery, 3061 Memorial Pines Ln, 88063.
