Angel was very proud growing up in Segundo Barrio minding his neighborhood grocery store called La Nave Grocery.

He graduated Bowie High School, later earning his bachelors from UTEP.

One of his greatest highlights of his life was to work side by side with legendary Don Haskins “the bear”

Angel was married to Bernie Chavira for 45 years. Had 2 daughters - Janell Chavira, Dianne Chavira & son Ethan Chavira. His grandchildren Ivan, Elizah,and Isabella.

Angel went on to become a teacher for 35 years. He coached kids basketball, soccer, and also refereed for many years.

He was also very proud to own and manage his food truck selling his famous homemade tamales and menudo.

He was very well loved by all his students.

You will be missed immensely by your family. You will forever remain in our hearts for an eternity as our "Aki". No one can ever compare to your humorous antics, your quirks, and your love of sports and education. We were blessed to have you in our lives, and the impact you had on everyone around you was immeasurable.

Visitation will be Friday, October 11, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at San Jose Funeral Home-East, 10950 Pellicano Dr., 79935 (915) 590-8700. Scripture service on Saturday, October 12, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at San Jose Chapel. Interment will be at a later date. Reception following the Scripture service at La Nave Grocery at 515 S.
