In Loving Memory of Our Beloved Mother Jacqueline Braunston Bumgardner
With heartfelt love and deep sorrow, we announce the passing of our loving mother, a woman whose life was beautifully shaped by her unwavering faith in God and her steadfast trust in Jesus Christ.
She left this world surrounded by the same grace, warmth, and devotion she poured into others every day.
Born May 13th of 1949, she attended Austin High school in El Paso, Texas.
She moved through life with a spirit marked by resilience, compassion, and a gentle but enduring faith.
Growing up in El Paso, she was shaped by a loving father who emigrated from Bucharest Romania and her mother, from Zacatecas, Mexico, in a home filled with laughter, tradition, and stories passed down from her parents, Jack and Mary (Luna), and spent summers in California with her brother George.
The belief that God walks beside us in every season was something she carried throughout her life. A blind date with the man who would become her husband blossomed into a lifelong love story—one she often said was guided by God’s hand.
Together, they built a family rooted deeply in love, hope, and faith. Her children were her greatest joy, and she raised each of them to know the strength of prayer, the comfort of Jesus’ promise, and the blessing of family.
She is lovingly survived by her six children spanning four decades:
• Daughter Joanna & her husband Freddy Reta, blessed with two grandchildren.
• Daughter Mary & her husband Scottie Coles, blessed with three grandchildren.
• Son Jack & his wife Rachel Bumgardner, blessed with three grandchildren.
• Son Michael & his wife Lulu Bumgardner, blessed with two grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
• Son Jacob & his wife Liz, blessed with two grandchildren.
• Son John Bumgardner, and his loyal dog Max.
She is also survived by her sisters, who walked through life with her in love and faith:
• Rachel & Albert Escamilla
• Ida Grochocki
• Shirley & Richard Garcia
• Norma Rosales
She surrounded her family with a Christ-like love—patient, generous, forgiving, and enduring familiar bonds. The legacy she carried from those before her—George’s loyalty, Jack’s gentle guidance, and Mary’s strength—was magnified by her trust in the Lord. Even in
moments that could have left her feeling alone, her faith and her family became her strength.
Her courage, kindness, and unwavering support were reflections of the faith that anchored her heart. She lived with grace, believing fully in the goodness of God, the hope of heaven, and the sacred power of love to heal, guide, and uplift.
We find peace in knowing she is now at rest in the presence of her Savior, reunited with loved ones, and embraced by the eternal light of Christ.
Her spirit lives on through her children, grandchildren, sisters, and all who were blessed to know her.
She is loved beyond words, missed beyond measure, and forever held in God’s eternal grace.
Funeral services and a celebration of life will take place at San Jose Funeral Home, located at 601 S. Virginia Street, El Paso, TX 79901.
With all our love,
Her family
