In loving Memory... Marcelo Rey Jr.

Marcelo Rey Jr., 78, passed away peacefully on the morning of September 9, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Marcelo was born in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, and raised in El Paso, Texas. He was a strong and hardworking man who loved life and lived it with courage, humor, and purpose. He was loving, caring, witty, respectful, courageous, giving, and a true man of valor. He was a provider who took great pride in caring for his family and making sure those he loved were taken care of. Marcelo had a way of making people laugh and bringing life into any room, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

After graduating from high school, Marcelo proudly joined the United States Navy, where he served for two years during the Vietnam War. His service was a reflection of his courage, dedication, and commitment to his country. During his time in the Navy, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal with one Bronze Star.

Following his military service, Marcelo built a long and successful career in manufacturing. He worked for Farah Manufacturing Company as a line supervisor and held similar supervisory positions at other manufacturing companies throughout his career. Eventually, his hardworking and independent spirit led him to start his own contracting business, Rey's Remodeling, where he continued to provide for his family and take pride in his work.

Marcelo was a man who knew how to enjoy life. He loved dancing, listening to music, and cheering on his beloved Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed spending time with his family and creating memories with the people he loved. He was known for his sense of humor, his quick wit, and his generous heart. He taught his family through both his words and the example he lived every day: to work hard, never give up, always strive for more, and always be willing to give to others.

Marcelo was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary E. Rey, who passed away on July 19, 2024; his parents, Marcelo and Genoveva Rey; and his brothers, Armando and Jose Luis. His love and life with Mary remain an important part of the family they built.

Marcelo is survived by his children, Marcelo Rey III, Cynthia Rey, Rene Rey and his wife, Karla Sanchez, and Daniel Rey; his ten grandchildren; his great-grandchild and his five siblings. His greatest legacy will always be the family he loved, provided for, and taught to be strong.

Marcelo leaves behind a life defined by hard work, courage, love, laughter, and generosity. He taught those around him to keep going when life was difficult, to work for a better future, and to never forget the importance of giving. His stories, his humor, the music he enjoyed, his dancing, and the lessons he shared will live on through the generations of his family.

Though he is deeply missed, the love he gave and the life he lived will remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
