July 22, 1940 – August 9, 2024

 Mario Galaviz Lomas, 84 years old passed away at home on August 9, 2024. He was born on July 22, 1942, in Madero, Coahuila, Mexico and was a longtime resident of El Paso, Texas. He was preceded in death by his father Nicolas Lomas, his mother Antonia Galaviz Boswell, and his brothers, Nicolas Lomas, Oscar Galaviz Lomas, Horacio Lomas, Luis Galaviz. He is survived by his wife, Lydia Lomas and his step-children Alex Marin, Fernie Marin, Louie Guevara, Myrna Guevara, and his children; Nicolas (JoAnn) Lomas, Esther (Robert) Constantakis, Clara Bulger, Rosie (Efren) Carmona, Alexzondria Strong, Laura (David) Tomlinson, Teri (Adam) Barela, Mireya Lomas (Socorro) Lerma, Monica Lomas, Terri (Jesus) Ballasteros-Reyes, Rachel (Juan) Aguilar Garcia,his two brothers, Rogelio (Concepcion) Lomas and Juan (Velia) Galaviz; his three sisters, Dora (Manny) Aviña, Celia (Robert) Alvidrez, and Laura (Peter) Prado; 30 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces.

Mario worked as a sheet metal worker for over 30 years. He loved camping, fishing, baseball, bowling, and golf. As a young man, he boxed with the Golden Gloves in 1969. He enjoyed seafood, steak, and Mexican food. He was an amazing dancer and was often the life of the party. He taught himself to play the guitar, the harmonica, the cornet, and the accordion. After retirement, he used his handy-man skills to ensure that elderly folk had working air conditioners and heaters. He loved life and lived it to the fullest.
