Orlando Monroy, 73, went to be with his heavenly father on March 30th, 2024, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Orlando (or “Orly,” as his friends and family called him) was born in Bogota, Colombia, on December 21st, 1950, to Lauriano Monroy and Isaura Monroy. In his late teens, he immigrated to the United States and enjoyed living and working in Miami and Chicago, later setting roots in

El Paso, Texas.

In 1982, Orlando became a FedEx courier, working proudly and tirelessly for over 25 years. During that time, he cultivated relationships with countless coworkers and customers, which resulted in an outpouring of support and remembrance. His energetic and optimistic spirit is the

quality most often recalled by friends and family.

The stories he told were the only things more bountiful than the people he knew. Orly loved to share fond memories of his many travels, eclectic taste in food, and special moments with friends and family. He loved getting behind the wheel of a car and driving. It didn’t matter

where. And helping people was in his blood.

He married Ofelia Garcia in 1979, and they had two children.

Orlando is survived by his wife of 44 years, Ofelia Monroy, son Richard Monroy and daughter-in-law Angela Monroy of San Antonio, daughter Elizabeth (Monroy) Trow and son-in-law Kevin Trow of El Paso, and four grandchildren: Edgar Monroy of El Paso, Brianna Monroy of Florida, Richard Isaiah Monroy of El Paso, and Britney Roslyn Trow of El Paso.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be on Monday, April 8th, 2024, from 4 to 8 p.m. at San Jose Funeral Home-East, 10950 Pellicano Dr., El Paso, TX 79935 (915) 590-8700.

Funeral services will be on Tuesday, April 9th, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Unity El Paso, 1420 Alabama St., El Paso, Texas 79930.
