Sonia Ortega Gomez 46, made her final transition to dance with her Lord and Savior succumbing to complications with Diabetes on Tuesday, June 25, 2024. She was born on September 16, 1977 in El Paso, Texas.

She was born and raised in El Paso all of her life. She was also the youngest of 12 children.  Sonia graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1996. She loved kids and was a motherly figure to several of her nieces and nephews. Her love for Jesus and the Catholic Church was part of her daily life. She was kind-hearted and was very giving of her time. She met the love of her life, David Gomez on May 29, 1998 and happily married each other on June 19, 2004. They were best friends for 28 years and loved each other dearly. Their favorite past times was going to church, concerts and Chicos Tacos.

She is preceded in death by her sister Sue Ann, Father Fernando Ortega Sr, Mother Maria Velia Ortega, and brother Frank Ortega.

She is Survived by her husband David Gomez, her sisters: Sally Mata, Sandra Enriquez, Sylvia Zanella, Rachel Ortega, and Becky Ortega, her brothers: Fernando Ortega Jr, Freddy Ortega, Ruben Ortega, and Rudy Ortega and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Sonia will take place at San Jose Funeral Home East (10950 Pellicano Dr) on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm, Funeral Mass will be at St. Mark Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at 11:00 am. She will be laid to rest at a later date.
