Carl E Baker Jr

July 28, 1949 — April 29, 2026

It is with profound sadness and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Carl E. Baker Jr., who departed from this world on April 29, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on July 28, 1949, in Terre Haute, Indiana, Carl was the beloved son of Carl and Rebekah Baker, who have predeceased him. He was also predeceased by his brother, Randy Baker, his sister, Becky Liford, and his niece, Kimberly Liford.

Carl's life was a tapestry woven with love, service, and a profound appreciation for nature and humanity. A proud veteran, Carl served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, as part of the 20th Engineer Brigade, where he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his exemplary service.

Throughout his life, Carl was known for his boundless generosity and unwavering commitment to helping those around him. His heart was as expansive as the deserts he loved to walk, where he found solace and inspiration. His passion for wildlife and nature was matched only by the warmth he shared with his many friends and family. Carl was a man who believed in the power of giving, often selflessly extending a helping hand to others, finding deep fulfillment in these acts of kindness.

Music played a significant role in Carl's life, providing a soundtrack to his many adventures and quiet moments alike. Yet, perhaps his most treasured moments were those spent with his granddaughter, Courtney Navarro, who was truly the light of his life. Carl is survived by his loving immediate family: his devoted partner, Seferina Baker, his daughter Carmela Hines and granddaughter Courtney Navarro, his sister, Wanetta Milner, and his nieces, Marla Brough and Krista Galloway, as well as his nephew, Carl Milner.

A man of simple pleasures and profound connections, Carl will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of kindness and service extends beyond his family and friends, he was constant with his support of the Humane Society, an organization close to his heart.

In accordance with his wishes, a burial service will be held at the Fort Bliss National Cemetery, with an escort leaving promptly at 1:30 PM from San Jose Funeral Home East, located at 10950 Pellicano Drive, El Paso, Texas, 79935, on May 7, 2026.  Please arrive 15 minutes early for the escort. To honor his wishes there will be no service held at the funeral home.  All those who loved Carl are invited to join in honoring his life and service to his country.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the many close and dear friends who stood by Carl and supported him with love and friendship throughout his life and to Candy and her family for helping him in his final moments.

Carl E. Baker Jr.'s life was being of service to others. He had jokes for every occasion, filled his days listening to music and was passionate about wildlife and nature. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love he so generously shared.
