In Loving Memory...
Alfonso Minjares
Alfonso Minjares Sr, 76 of El Paso, Texas, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 27th. Born on December 4th, 1949, he was the son of Getrudes and Carmen Minjares. "Alfoso married his high school sweetheart and had been married for 56 wonderful years."
Alfonso is survived by his wife Irma, son Alfonso Jr., daughter Melinda, son-in-law Arnie, his grandchildren Katelynn, Megan, and Andrew, his grandbaby in heaven, sister Gloria, and brother Frank.
AL, as he was commonly known, also had many different loveable nicknames from different people, such as Big AL, Mr. AL, Nino, Dino, and Boy. He was, and always will be, remembered as a family man who loved spending time with his family. We always got together on weekends, whether it was to go watch a football game, celebrate someone’s birthday, have a BBQ with extended family, or just have dinner and catch up on how everyone’s week went. He really enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, helping however he could, sometimes taking them to school or picking them up, or taking them to Cheer practice, Orchestra, or Karate. He always made sure they had what they needed for their school activities.
Al worked in HVAC for over 55 years. He started working for his father-in-law right after high school, then later opened his own heating and cooling company. He retired but continued working with his brother-in-law up until 2 weeks before he became ill. AL’s dedication and work ethic ensured he had many faithful life-long customers. Every year, when they were ready, they would call him to start their coolers or start their heaters. His thought was either you do a great job or don’t do it at all.
AL was easygoing and always so positive. Nothing was impossible if you wanted something. His friendliness and ability to strike up a conversation with a total stranger were very well known. We honestly don’t think he had one enemy on this earth. He was the life of the party. He was always willing to lend a hand any time, any day, whether he knew you or not. You could never be sad around him because he always found a way to put a positive spin on anything. He was always able to put a smile on your face with what he did or said. He had a sense of humor and spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Honey, Dad, Grampa, Brother, Uncle, Cuñado, Nino, and friend, we Thank You for everything you have done for this family, everything you have taught us, sharing your wealth of knowledge about life. You were truly an amazing man and a beautiful person inside and out. WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU. SO, THIS IS NOT A GOODBYE BUT RATHER UNTIL WE SEE YOU AGAIN. REST IN PEACE!!
On behalf of our entire family, we would like to give a special “Thank You” to the amazing staff at Sierra Medical Center for the caring and professionalism of all the nurses and doctors who took such good care of Alfonso and our entire family while we were in the hospital. There are too many names to mention, but we would like to personally recognize
and thank Anna Macharia and Alex Osorio. These two nursesmade my dad extremely comfortable, made him laugh, and gained his trust. They both went above and beyond the expected level of care. The empathy and compassion they both showed our entire family made this situation a little more tolerable. Anna and Alex, you both will forever be remembered as a part of our family, and from the bottom of our hearts,
we THANK YOU once again for everything you both did. You are truly angels in our eyes. God Bless you both!!
