Alejandro (Alex) Hernandez Jr.  passed away peacefully at his home in El Paso, Texas surrounded by his loving family on April 26, 2025 at the age of 74. Born on August 14 1950, the beloved son of Candelaria and Alejandro Hernandez Sr., he was raised in Socorro, Texas and was a member of the first graduating class of Socorro High School in 1968. He became a local legend as Socorro’s first All State Football player, First District and Bi-District , and an All-District Basketball star.  In 1971 he proudly became one of El Paso Police Department’s finest officers, Badge # 299, where he continued to serve for 28 years. He was a mainstay at Central Regional Command with the Community Service Division and an original member of the SWAT team.

Alex will always be remembered for his wit, humor, and sarcasm. If laughter is the best medicine, then Alex was the cure! Ever the comedian, his very presence could fill the room with warmth, joy, and uproarious laughter. He never passed up a chance to make a joke, no matter the situation, and could always be counted on to lighten the mood.

He was a man of his word and always showed up for the people he cared about. A giant among men and ever the gentleman to women. Babies, small children, and animals adored him in an instant. He loved ( and was loved by) dogs, horses, and birds. Well-read and well-traveled. He could hold a conversation with anyone and made friends everywhere he went. He was easy going and down to earth, and yet fiercely protective and lion-hearted for the ones he loved. It is fitting that he was born a Leo. Kept good books and even better company. When you were down on your luck, you wanted Alex by your side and if you were blessed with good fortune, you wanted Alex by your side.

Alex traveled the globe and thus brought his humor and charm to places far and wide such as China, Italy, Portugal, England, France, Germany, and Switzerland. He made Pilgrimages to Lourdes, the Vatican, and Saint James Way. He stood atop the Great Wall of China, walked through Tiananmen Square, and ate dim sum in Hong Kong. His Life’s adventures could fill up novels and still could never encompass the immensity of his impact on this world.

He is survived by his loving wife Mary Lou, his children Alex Jr. (Tiffani) Hernandez, Michael (Yvette) Hernandez, Amanda Hernandez, and Andrew( Antonia) Hernandez, his grandchildren Alexandra, A.J., Bella, Ben, Aiden, and Alexander, his great-granddaughters Addison and Josie, his sisters Rosie Nelson and Alicia Miramontes.

He is preceded in death by his a parent’s Candelaria and Alejandro Hernandez Sr., his daughter Gina Mosher, and his grandson Bryce Mosher.

In Loving Memory of our Beloved Delia Montes Delia Montes, age 92, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, she is survived by her four sons, eleven grandchildren, and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Delia was the heart of her family—a quiet force of love and loyalty. She was a beautiful mix of strength and softness—stern when needed, but always leading with unconditional love. Her presence was steady, her heart vast, and her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
