Mercedes Ruiz Macias born September 24, 1926, in Namiquipa Chihuahua, Mexico to parents Enedina and Juan Ruiz passed away peacefully on Monday, March 17th. She was a loving sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Mercedes "Cheles" as called by her family was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart and St. Patrick's Cathedral parishes. She was a gifted seamstress who brought joy to many with her talents. She was a strong woman of faith and was the heart of the family. 


Mercedes was preceded in death by her parents Enedina and Juan Ruiz, her husband Norberto Jose Macias, her brother Ruben Ruiz, her sister Angelina Ruiz Duran, her sister Elvira Ruiz Tena, her brother Hector Ruiz Sr. and her daughter Graciela Araujo. She is survived by her sister Socorro Ruiz Valenzuela, her brother Juan Ruiz, son John Macias (Susan), her daughter Esther Ronquillo (Mauricio), her son Norberto Macias (Shaun), her daughter Enedina Macias, her grandsons Michael Araujo (Stephanie), John Araujo (Andrea), Christopher Macias, Matthew Macias (Abby), great grandson Diego Alejandro Araujo, many nieces, nephews, and God children. 


We would like to thank the Nursing staff at Providence Memorial Hospital and Global Hospice, especially Nurse Juana who tended to our mother with compassion. A special thank you to Berta Sano, her caretaker. Thank you, Berta, for your loving care over the past year. We could not have done it without you.


Funeral services will be Thursday, March 27th with viewing and visitation from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Rosary will be from 6:00 to 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be Friday, March 28th at St. Patrick's Cathedral at 10:30 am. Burial will be at a later date at Fort Bliss Cemetery.
