In loving memory of Manuela Serrano

Manuela Serrano, lovingly known as “Nellie” by all who knew her, passed away peacefully at the age of eighty-four. Born on June 14, 1940, in Mexico, Nellie made El Paso, Texas, her home, where she became a cherished member of the community. She was a strong woman worked hard and encouraged her children to pursue their dreams and fulfil their purpose in life.

Throughout her life, Nellie was admired for her many accomplishments and tireless dedication to volunteer work, positively impacting countless lives across the city. She always found a reason to laugh, dance, and serve others, bringing joy and inspiration to everyone around her. She found joy in cooking and giving to others.

Nellie had a passion for the arts and enjoyed painting and dancing. Her artwork was proudly displayed at El Paso Community College (EPCC), showcasing her talent and creative spirit. Whether on the dance floor or in the studio, Nellie embraced life with vibrancy and grace.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Anna Maria Delgado, and Jose Edmundo Serrano, as well as her siblings, Gilbert Serrano, Pedro Serrano, and Amelia Duran.

Nellie is survived by her sister Lydia and her beloved children: Rose Mary and Felipe Garza, Gloria and Fernando Miranda, Robert Rivas, and Sylvia and Jorge Martinez. She was a devoted grandmother to sixteen grandchildren and a proud great-grandmother to more than twenty great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored and inspired with her love and wisdom.

Nellie’s legacy of compassion, creativity, and joy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and the entire El Paso community. She will be deeply missed but fondly remembered for her laughter, kindness, and the countless ways she touched the lives of others.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe That Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.                                            1 Thessalonians 4:13-14
